You guys must have some seriously [censored] hospitals in your areas. Most hospitals HAVE orthopedic doctors on call 24/7/365 in the hospital. If you come in with your arm dangling at a 90 degree angle, you're going to be admitted into the hospital from the ER to receive surgery from the on duty orthopedic surgeons.

Ive only broken a pinky finger and chipped a bone in my wrist. Both were non-issues and handled satisfactorily right away.

I cannot comment on your claims to have ODs on call 24/7. Makes sense, I just dont know.

Some people say if we had Canada or Britain's state run health care system, GM Boy's wife could wait weeks on end to see a dr.

Or fly to another country like my Best Friend's Dad who needed Eye surgery. He was on the waiting list for 9 months, got to that time and since he was not blind yet (cataract, can not see straight forward only about 25% around it.) and is older (71) they put him back on the bottom of the list.

He is staying with us recovering nicely. (had the operation at my wife's Hospital) Ask him what he thinks about his health "care". (and the $12-15k check he will be writing soon. On top of a $400 air fare from Toronto to here)

I'll stick with what we have thank you. (as someone who had a Operation last year with no waiting, no hassles and covered by insurance minus deductibles)

Same here.

My wife works at the largest Hospital here and they have teams available within the hour for anything.

They have had to use the Helicopter to fly up to Park City to get a Doctor back so they could operate. (@$800 a hour, wonder who got to cover that?)

Drew, in this case her arm WASN'T hanging at a 90deg angle! Don't you think ER would have reacted differently if it had been?

Wife is a contract nurse. At this time She's working at a little local podunk hospital ER. Most admits are at best clinic canidates who've had the same earache (etc.) for three days and given up on home remedies. The Best thing for a serious injury is for ER's to patch them, supply pain meds, and refer to a REAL hospital in one of the larger cities. Wife has also worked in "Arkansas Heart Hospital" a state of the art facility in Little Rock far superior to the half dozen California facilities she's contracted in over the years.

Having the ER doc patch till proper help can schedule is best in MOST non life threatening situations.
