Bring A Trailer

I've done both.

Bring A Trailer is well organized and definitely more civil. A more mature audience that tends to contribute plenty of insight.

Cars And Bids is a dumpster fire filled with plenty of Internet educated enthusiasts who regurgitate whatever they read online.

I have sold at both sites. One guy I helped make his dream come true with a 1985 Nissan Maxima my friend was initially going to give to the scrapper.

The owner who has known me since forever asked for guidance. I brought it back from a long hibernation in his garage. Got it serviced and well detailed. Contacted BaT so that I could use a professional photographer, and it was an absolute joy to do.

We split the profits and he also got a great story to tell his students at Emory.

Here's a 2004 Lexus IS300 I sold at BaT which only had 25,000 miles. If you read the comments, you'll get a healthy grasp of the culture there.

Cars & Bids was just a zoo. Perhaps it improved over the years. But I have found it a lot easier to either use BaT, or just sell directly to enthusiasts.

That Maxi is MINTY:love:

This is some advice I saw in BMW forum but very applicable for whatever car you may be trying to buy or sell. You will see comments on the auction from folks that may be mildly or majorly critical of the vehicle—some may be very legitimate and some may be designed to simply put doubt in other’s thinking in order to depress the price the commenter will have to pay.
