I would check the oil pressure and if it is at spec. drive it another 3000 and do a uoa. Then another 3000 and see if it is repeating. You could be getting all worked up over breakin debris.
I had thought it could be break it debris, but after 3 oil changes and 1700 miles still. I plan on getting a oil pressure gauge anyway. I will put that on and see what I get, before I rip the engine apart. I wouldn't mine pulling the engine, but taking the engine all the way apart and reassembling it without the parts being cleaned. That does not sound fun to me!

My 383 stroker I built for my race car had micro flakes in the oil for the first 5 oil changes then they stoped. High performance rings tend to require longer break in period before they are fully broken in and seal good. I discussed this with my machinest (he is one of the best in maryland) and he told me that is completely normal for a race engine with top quality parts.
