I've had 2 Thor hammers in my 51 years in the trade, both ruined by apprentices...so they will last a lifetime without abuse. They were mainly used in universal joint replacement, being able to hit the yokes without damage. So not used as much for that task these days...although I did 2 UJ's on tuesday, so had my Thor out doing it's job.
And leaking oil all over the place....
When I was a kid, my father had a copper mallet. The head was about 2/3 the size of a 12 ounce drink can. Man I wish I had that thing today. Maybe you can find what you want here:

Where does this oil come from ?
A cast alloy hammer is good too, I've never had one, but a couple of mates have, and I like them...just never enough to buy one. Well, one guys father owned an alloy foundry, and they just cast any tool they found lying around.
All of my brass hammers are Berylco. Looks like they are still in business. Mine are hand me downs from my grandfather

Trusty cook has a steel faced one. Could that work with a brass drift?
Depending on the task, yes.
I have a matco branded one don’t think it’s 2 lb but has held up reasonably
would get a snap on if I needed a new one their hammers are good with easy warranty

There are so many different alloys of brass (basically copper and zinc) and so many alloys of bronze (basically copper and tin) that have aluminum, lead, tin and other metals added, that I really wouldn’t worry about it. The alloys in hammers end up with similar properties whether brass or bronze. Honestly, the brass hammer I have from Wilton has the appearance of bronze, and probably has some tin in it...so, is it brass? Or bronze?
