Hi guys..to double the zinc amount from 800ppm to 1600ppm which brand of zinc additive do you recommend and how much to use with 4.2 quarts of oil?thanks

If you have to add something to your oil, you're using the wrong oil. Oil formulas are carefully balanced. Don't upset that balance by playing backyard shadetree chemist with a supplement.

If you need additional ZDDP, there's plenty of oils out there that are already balanced around a higher concentration. Since application dictates chemistry, we also need to know what engine this oil is going in, the health of said engine, and how you plan to use it. Then we can give you some recommendations.

If they still have M1 racing 0w30 at Autozone for $2/qt that stuff is natively loaded. It comes out of the bottle looking brown thanks to the thicc add pack!

Exactly.

Because i purchased 12ltrs of api sn oil and found out that it contains only 800ppm and my car is a 1992 without catalytic and have read that zddp is beneficial for old motors

Again, today’s oils are specially formulated as a total package. Just dumping in an additive doesn’t mean anything beneficial will occur; all you’re guaranteed is that the result will be miscible.

Return the oil, sell it, give it away, whatever, but don’t think you’re doing your engine favors by raising ZDDP. You still didn’t answer what your engine is.

Just run the API SN oil and stop buying dumb myth about old cars needing some kind of magic sauce. Every API SN or SP is categorically superior to every oil made in 1992.

What is beneficial is using a modern oil. Forget the myth of needing higher zddp.
