This is a very good point. Before you take anything apart you should take a good look at the old shoes. With under 100k miles on it you just might be replacing the old shoes with a brand new set that has thinner lining than what remains of the old ones. I've done that (I don't like to argue for long) a great many times.

Lightweight FWD economy cars:
'93 Mazda MX6 - 34x,xxx miles - never touched rotors or rear brakes
'92 Nissan - ~350k miles - never touched rear brakes

current '00 Civic 152k miles - won't touch the rear brakes unless obviously needed

Really not a necessary job at this point in the car's life. Over-maintenance isn't a bad thing, though.

I will bet my years salary that car does NOT need rear brakes.

The honda drum brakes last a LONG time, like 200,000 miles or more.

You will replace the wheel cylinders long before you replace shoes on hondas. Just clean and adjust them and call it a day. You are wasting time and money changing those.
