brake pad types, good or bad?

i am concidering going with ceramic brakes for my honda accord. i dont want to go OEM cause they dont stop at all for semi metallics....

i had a pair when i changed my caliper, it came with it...8 months later they are worn down to the end....

can you guys give me some tips/your opinions on differnt materials in brake pads?

o and all of the pads i used, organic, semis, all produced a huge amount of brake dust....nothing can not produce dust for my accord.

Ceramic is what comes OEM on many vehicles, for reasons of longetivity and braking performance. Brake dust is just a reality that is associated with all brake pads. Some leave more dust than others, but the difference is small. Also note that ceramic pads are harder on the rotors than say an organic pad but will last a bit longer....If your car is just used on the street I think all the pads you mentioned are fine. I've used all the types you listed and really only have one suggestion. If you do get new pads I would replace the brake rotors as well. Honda does not recommend turning rotors and rotors on hondas are pretty thin to start out with in my opinion. Even though turning rotors cost about a third of the cost of new rotors, I would still replace the rotors to guarantee silent, vibration free operation if using semi-metallic or ceramic pads.

Try a Hawk HPS; a decent street pad without huge amounts of dust or noise, and not too expensive.
Work decently on my Integra...

ceramics was OEM for my car but then honda does not carry ceramics and said that semi metallics are better.

haha honda here are idiots...i used semi metallics and really...nothing pleases me more than running through them...i burn through a pad in 8 months...normal braking..occasional person cutting me off once in a while.

i heard of hawk pads...heard alot of good things about them.

I've used several different manufacturers pads with varying results. It was alittle trial and error with my apps and may be with yours too. I do like the Hawk HPS for a ferro-carbon pad and the Akebono ACTs if you want a ceramic.

HondaRD makes a few good points, especially about using new rotors. If yours have a fair amount of milage, pop for a new set. Brembo and Powerslot offer very decent replacements that won't cost alotta $$$. Also makes it easier to transfer that thin layer of pad material to a fresh rotor.

A racer's tip that has debatable merit for the street is to use the new pads on the old rotors for a few hundred miles, then install the new rotors. A few progressivily light to moderate stops and you should be good to go. Don't forget to clean any rust or other such crud off of the hubs before you replace the rotors. If you don't have a smooth surface, it could cause a slight imbalance sometimes reffered to as "judder".

my friend gave me a pair of raybestos ceramics, Cs series....

my old pads wernt pads, they were metal...they were on one spot just metal....

now for the brake in period....
