Is OP certain it's not one ( or both) of the rear brakes?

Rear rotors were changed before this trip. Pretty sure it's not the rear.

My BIL had a volvo 850 that had pulsating brakes no matter what we did. New rotors, different make pads etc. He got rid of the problem when he got rid of the car. Did it after dealer brake jobs as well.

Thank you for all the excellent suggestions. As soon as I return home I will have the hub, bearings and calipers inspected. And for all you BITOG's I'm running Mobil 1 High Mileage 10W30 topping off with Mobil 1 High Mileage 10W40. Fram Ultra Guard 8A remote filter. Engine has consumed 12 oz in 4,000 miles. Planning to change when I return home - about 6,400 miles.
