So about 6 weeks ago, I had my entire brake system flushed with Wilwood Hi-Temp 570 racing brake fluid. But I'm taking it back to the shop tomorrow to get upgraded rotors and pads put on. Ordinarily, I wouldn't even think about bleeding each caliper, but about a month ago I took the car down to mulholland and experienced mild fluid fade. should I bleed the system to get everything fresh? will using normal DOT 4 for a bleed be a problem? or should I go to the wilwood store again to buy more?

for the record, my pedal feels just fine and hard at normal driving and even spirited speeds, I just havn't gotten the brakes red hot yet.

Please explain what you mean by Brake Fade?
Normally I would bleed the brakes if I felt a spongy pedal, but Brake fade would most likely be down to Pad material, or just over heating.

fluid fade (as in more pedal travel and less braking effectiveness)......at high temps...near the end of the verrryyyyy twisty Mulholland HWY....

so you think. don't bleed yet. try the new, high performance things. I definitely didn't completely fade out a 570 degree fluid.

Why not just get some more Wilwood 570 and just do a bleed? If you use the brakes to those extremes the feel is going to change and pedal will get long. Cooling ducts will give you more time but the factory brakes although very good performing, are very limited in how long they will perform good for you.

Red hot is too hot for factory brakes.

If the pedal starts getting longer you need to realize its time to manage the brake use better because they are way too hot to be safe for very long. Like the next deep turn-in you mey not have any pedal.
Getting off the gas sooner give the brakes a stab to see if there's pedal then you may find the limits that give you some laps.

If your fluid was overheated, it needs to be replaced.
Once they hit the limit, it's properties go way down.
Who knows what you experienced, though? I strongly guess it was pad/rotor related, not fluid.

So, in the end, I did what you recommended and got the brakes bled with the wilwoood 570. I just want a fresh strt with the new pads and rotors ya know?

Most high temp fluids you'll find will work well if you bleed them every season.

I used to track a car that I ran Castrol LMA in. it was 6.99 a bottle or so, and I NEVER had fluid fade.....pad fade yes.

Interesting story. So I just broke in my brand new pads and rotors yesterday with the 20 partial stops from 60-10 with a 20 minute drving break in between to cool the whole system. I then did 2 80-10 stops just to do a final conditioning. What I feel surprises me. Even after cooling all night, I still feel a spongy pedal?? I don't have to exert much effort whatsoever to get the pedal all the way to the floor. Dont get me wrong though, the brake pads and rotors are amazing, they stop with true power.

If the pedal is going to the floor, you are having problems. I'd be bleeding the brakes again and checking for any leaks as well. Do you have power brakes?

Wait a minute. This sounds different.

first, check for leaks, second go straight to the master cylinder.

Id put money on it being the culprit.

Something is very wrong. You should never be able to get the pedal to the floor. Either there is a leak somewhere or you have a bad brake master cylinder.

Can I bleed with Dot 4? i'm tired of dealin with willwood and their taking 2 hours to get me 1 bottle of brake fluid...yes it is power brakes..but it's a brand new car...the master cylinder?

If Wildwood is DOT4, then yes. If it isn't then you have a new understanding of why specs exist.
