BP Refinery Outage Leads to Higher Midwest Gasolin

Its funny.. Last week, prices jumped 70 cents to $2.99 here. The following day, my friend was headed to Florida for vacation and sent me a text from Tennessee saying he filled up for $2.14.

We know that oil isn't the same as refinery capacity and we know about the recent refinery problem but prices rose before that!

The EPA should allow oil companies to build more refinery capacity. The oil companies could then build more modern facilities that would be safer and "cleaner". Instead the oil companies must continue to run old outdated facilities and continue their patchwork operations of updates and maintenance. It appears that our government is even having trouble in a business where they make all the rules and hold all the cards.

Right now oil companies are running out of room to store oil. They're using mothballed ships and anything else they can find. The cost of reduced refinery output and storage will do nothing to help lower the cost to consumers. On top of that the media will make sure that they remain the bad guys because they never let details get in the way of another bad guy story.

Seems like a narrowsighted view, unless you're a "greenieweenie."

The more refineries, the better the competition and ultimately, lower prices, and less control over prices from one signle refinery.

Did I say shutter the refinery? or sanction the sloppy corporation?

So what is it you are trying to say?

Premium 91 is now .90 more per gallon than regular 87

The ecoboost will be dining on regular for a while.

I think we need to regulate Obama ...and any statist that may replace him. In a truly free market the sloppy companies would go out of business as a matter of course.

especially BP, sloppy careless.

Sorry I asked.

to have a special niche in our economy like a refinery, and drop the ball on a maintenance issue is inexcusable...After the Gulf catastrophe most monkeys see a pattern sheeps cannot.

Costco is selling reg gas in CenTex for $2.20/ga. Why are so many from the North & West moving to Texas?
