Boxelder bug infestation?

They did a story on them here in Iowa too. Apparently you can cut down on your chances of seeing them by spraying your soutwest side of your house, windows & doors with soapy water.

I have used the Box Elder Bug specific spray with much success. Its a concentrate that you mix and put in a spray bottle and spray on the side of the house. No staining of the house at all. Don't know the specific name off the top if my head

Apparently we have those as well! I thought one was a baby version of the other. I had one of those pine seed bugs in my bathroom the other day.

Fortunately, no, but my townhouse used to have them every year. Part of the problem was that my building was on a diagonal and the back wall faced directly southwest; 6 units, straight across = box elder central.

I also noticed that the Asian Lady Beetles seem to have disappeared. Not that I miss them, but they used to be a problem too.

TONS down here. They will come pouring out if you cut down their tree and it's partially hollow!!!!

Every year we get them on the south and west sides of both the house and shop. Since the house faces the south, they can make it impossible to enjoy the front porch. We also get them at the winery.

At the first sign of them each year I use a hose end sprayer with insecticide and treat the ground and sides around every building. The next day the porch on the south side and deck on the west side are covered with dead bodies. 15 minutes with a broom and they're history. I also treat the winery buildings on the south and west sides, and they don't come back.

We also have the aisian beetles (look like lady bugs but they bite) and treating the area around the house and buildings works for them too.

Ugh, yeah have lots of them this yr. too. What's even worse are the hordes of large brown stink bugs! Not so nice when the wind up on your wife's pillow at night and spray!!!
