I know this may be an oxymoron but are there any good boxed red wines? The kind I can take a glass a day for a few weeks....without it going south. I like bottled wine, but I drink a glass, recork and then the remainder turns to vinegar urine in a day or so....

What brands and red varieties?

I know, I know. You all drink $40 bottles and finish them, but I'll still listen to you.

My dad said that the $2 Charles Shaw red wines from Trader Joes are pretty darn good for the money, so maybe you should look into that instead?

Don't know much about boxed red wines though.

I see now lots of smaller wine bottles (and smaller everything -- a sign of things to come). I guess they are pint size. Maybe switch to those.

I actually liked the Two Buck Chuck (Charles Shaw) when I tried on a business trip to Fresno, CA. For two bucks, it beat some of the stuff I pay about $9 for at Costco. Wish I could get two buck Chuck here in Northern Alabama. But, oh well.

No help on how to keep red wine fresh - I had one of those VacuVin thingys at one time and I don't think it did anything to keep it fresh.

I too am a one-glass drinker and often have to pour vinegar down the drain. Wish they'd make one-glass bottles - that would be neat.

We have been working on a box of Franzia for about three weeks and it is as good now as when we started. The box we have now is Fruity Red Sangria, it may be a little sweet if you do not like a sweet wine. Our next box is also Franzia and it is called Chillable Red.

I agree that some of the Franzia wines are okay and they stay fresh. You'll have to find a place out of the way for that 55 gallon box though.

$11. Pleasant wine. Pretty darn good. Let's see how it lasts.

You are going to have to start drinking it faster to go through 5 liters before it turns, even if it's in a plastic bag.

You can do it if you put your mind to it.
