Bought a Toyota even more boring than The Critic's

Every kid should feel humiliated by their first car. My son drives Grandma's old Buick which is not-so-lovingly known as Mildred (the car, not Grandma). Personally, I wish Mildred had less get up and go than she does with the 3.8l V6.

THAT IS MY FAVORITE body style of all the Camrys. Simple lines, purposeful. Low hood line, low trunk line. Long hood. I’ve not driven one, but was a passenger in a v6 and was quite surprised by the power and the quietness. Great Car! Bring back the manual…..

You can get some Gabriel front struts on RockAuto for $9 each. I have some for my Camry I haven’t put on yet.

BAND-AID BEIGE!
My first 97’ Camry was Band-Aid beige! Only pic I have on my phone of it.

mpg should increase.

Yeah those gabby struts are on the way, along with some generic 5/16 metal line to redo the fuel system. Plan is to get it inspectable then to make it lovely.

Still looking for cheap rear struts-- have had bad luck with ebay specials. Shocking! But I'll do the fronts and see where it's at.

This is my 3rd beige camry of this body style. First was a flop, second was a V6 win. link

Its like the Janeane Garofalo of cars.

I’m here with you though rocking the Yoda van... It’s kind of like a chubby 6 or 7. She’ll cook, clean, go to work, she is reliable. And she’ll do things 9’s and 10’s won’t do.

I got some $39 FCS quick-struts for my Camry a year ago, have only had them on for a month but so far so good. The rears sag a lot on these cars so this gave me 3/4" lift so it's a good height.

Grandpa gold 👌

I tried so hard to find a first gen Sequoia in good condition that was not Grandpa Gold and i eventually gave up. It’s impossible.

The 4th gen Camry is a great car :)

Even though it has a timing belt, it is non-interference, so no worries there.

Just be glad you don't have the V6 :D

Sachs actually makes quick struts for the 4th gen Camry. KYB is another good choice.

Why?

Any car is a good first car because they're happy to have a car :D
