Why?
Squirrel? Chipmunk? Who knows.
No dog, but it appears he has a squirrel.

That's probably a mouse. Given enough time they can perform amazing tasks.

I see what you did there.
when I was young, my parents stored the dog food in the garage. My dad spent some time in hospital and didn't drive his suburban for a few months. Opening the hood after those months you could hear a cascade of "pebbles" flowing down the hood bracing cavities. That mouse moved around 2 gallons containers of food into the hood. they are busy little beasts.
Always store dog food in galvanized steel containers with tight fitting lids. Place the opened bag inside,leaving the food in the bag.
