Bosch or Denso Plug

It's funny, but sometimes I think that the bad rap that Bosch plugs get are somewhat akin to the Pennzoil sludge stories.

HOWEVER, I have first person accounts and have seen the evidence of Bosch plugs blowing their guts out leaving just the threaded housings behind.

Oh yeah, given the choice between the two, I'd go with Denso.

I'd just put in the factory listed AC Delco plugs and leave it at that. I've never had any plug related issues with AC plugs over the years in my seven GM vehicles.

depends on what they are going into . If the motor wasn't OE equipped with platinums then I would not use plats in it. I've seen more problems using plats on motors that didn't already come factory spec'ed for plats. platinum has a higher resistance that than what is used in copper plugs.

This is the same old internet rumor mill nonsense that I've always heard. Of course none of these folks can PROVE their experiences .

I definitely say that you should use the OEM brand that was installed in your car when you bought it.

For many German and European cars, even some Ford and Opel products BOSCH plugs are installed OEM and recommended.

I agree that the multi tip plugs are non needed however they DO SIGNIFICANTLY extend the interval between plug changes...

In any case if you get the right specification plug and install them correctly you will have NO issues.

There is nothing wrong with BOSCH plugs unless you get the wrong item for your car!!!!!!!

many times the issue is incorrect gap or heat range and yes this will cause failues to be much more likely.

I've used BOSCH in my VW and SAAB cars since I started driving in 1983 and I've had NO issues whatsoever!!!!

I doubt anyone here, or anywhere (J-body.org told me the same thing) is doing it to be malicious simply for maliciousness sake. Bosch plugs simply do not seem to work well in Domestic, or Japanese cars. It seems in fact, that unless the engine was designed around the Bosch plug, they do not work very well (in general). It's not a conspiracy, it's simply incompatibility. Some programs that worked on Windows XP will simply not work with Windows Vista, no matter what you try.

Well I don't know what kind of proof you want but I have first hand experience with poor performing Bosch plugs.
I am a professional technician and have had multiple instances (20+) where Bosch single tip platinums have caused intermittent misfires in non oem situations. These were the recommended cross over by Bosch for the engine and they performed miserably.
A few times I even had customers bring in the Bosch plugs and ask to install them. I agreed to install but always warned them that if the engine doesn't run properly they have to pay again to diagnose and replace. I've even offered to pay for the OEM plugs if they didn't solve the misfire. Haven't paid for any yet!
Whole sets have been tossed in the trash with less than a week of driving on them.
Total junk.
I wouldn't install them in my own engine if they were free!

I have had very good luck with Bosch starters and generators though.

Same here.

Don't forget the importance of double platinum if the ignition system is reverse-fire.
