Per their website: https://www.boschautoparts.com/en/auto/brakes/esi6-brake-fluid
  • Extended Service Interval (ESI): Lasts 100% longer than DOT 3, 50% longer than DOT 4, and 10% longer than DOT 5.1
I currently have this fluid installed in 3 vehicles but the oldest "in service" is only a little more than a year. Has anyone had this fluid in service and tested still serviceable after 3 years or more? I think its only been on the market for a little over 3 years because the product brochure https://www.boschautoparts.com/documents/101512/0/0/7c8c2217-78dd-0adc-c840-91edb62866a3 has a date of 2017 at the very bottom of the page.

Users of this fluid have compliments/complaints?

Interesting. Didn't know it existed. I don't have a doubt that it could go 3 years, as most fluids don't really have a problem doing 2 years, wouldn't be much of a stretch except in some of the edge cases of horrible climates and conditions. I'd trust Bosch to come up with a good product.

At $14/qt its not terribly more expensive than a good name-brand Dot 3/4.

There is nothing wrong with it. The ESI6 is at least as good as any other brake fluid out there, and it comes in metal cans, which is better for storage if you don't need the whole quart :)

Honda says any DOT3 is good for 3 years, as that is their recommended interval. Honda is the only non-European mfr to even specify a brake fluid interval in the first place.

Remember, most people never change their brake fluid, and most cars go to the junkyard on their factory fill, which is usually a cheap DOT3 far inferior to ESI6.

I use either ESI6 or Ravenol 5.1, whichever is cheaper at the time I need it.

I switched to Bosch ESI6 and am very happy with it, used to use Ravenol DOT 5.1 but didn't like it much due to thickness compared to Bosch fluid (in ABS brakes) and visually degrading quickly, or was it eating brake line... hmmm.
Doing Bosch brake fluid full flushes every 10th oil change or about every 3 years.

100% longer than DOT3?

But I bet most domestics go to the boneyard with original fluid... so it's going to last two vehicle lifetimes now?
Sure; just like lifetime oil & lifetime transmission fluid, lifetime batteries, lifetime coolant, lifetime mufflers, brake shoes, etc. I was trying to find out if anyone has had ESi6 "in service" for 3 years or more. I use Phoenix test strips to determine when to replace brake fluid.

Though the spec sheet will tell you to defer to the OEM's interval, the labeling on the Ate Typ200 (DOT 4) can has long said to change very three years, so such a period is not some extraordinary breakthrough, and such a claim by Bosch for its fluid (or whomever actually makes it) isn't doubtable.

A factory-sealed can has a five-year shelf life.

Just got a can of this for $9 on a Amazon. Thinking to put it through my BMW 135i...
