Looking for some help with my MK4 escort rs turbo.
It just keeps cranking unless I push the flap down on the metering unit. So no fuel until vacuum sucks plate down which only happend when I push it.
I've swapped and upgraded engines k to ke jetronic.
Done piston rings and re built turbo. Vacuums strong up until turbo ( can't get good feel on bottom hose). Been round car with easy start can find leaks.
Can fuel pressure affect the distributor plate?

I also have a gush of air when the fuel cap comes off like it's not venting air properly. It's got a new tank and pump.

Any help and ideas are greatly appreciated!
 
Where are you? Assuming not the US w/ the car, but we can hope :D

Wow wonder why I don't have the brains to work that one out 😂 the k jet guys close to me want 120 and hour... I only work part time! They could wipe my monthly wage out in less than a day. Plus where is the learning in that?
 
It sounds like you have an air leak.
This - if cranking the engine isn’t sucking down the plate - then you have a leak between the metering unit and the engine itself. Check the big rubber boot between the metering unit and the manifold, manifold gaskets, injector seals, idle air control boots and IAC itself.
