It's a great movie. They were filming the movie on the Salt, when the actual time trials were going on. The movie set was about a mile west of the actual race courses. They included some of the actual race vehicles in the movie.
At the time I was helping friends run Turbocharged Hayabusas. Some of the movie cast members and crew came over to see the bikes and cars up close.
Here's the bike they used for the movie:
One of the bikes I was there to work on:
This bike belonged to the guy in the red 200 mph club hat. It held the record in it's class at over 246 mph, for several years.
I'm missing Speedweek this year. But have several friends running various vehicles. One of those is the Strasburgs who are running a Blown Fuel Lakester. They ran a bit over 380 mph today, and are in impound for a return run tomorrow.
The Strasburgs, with Mike driving, used to run a Top Fuel Dragster in the NHRA. But got tired of trying to comply with the NHRA's ever-changing regulations.
I just thought I'd mention that there is a live broadcast every day. The guy putting this out is just a fan of land Speed Racing, and is doing so on his own dime.
