If you want to do something, go all the way. 80w90, my friend. Or even better, Blue Grease!!!!!!!

If you're referring to gear lube viscosity, it's measured on a different scale! Sprintman is talking about a real motor oil viscosity.

Sprintman, I thought that it was 25W70, but 40W70...that's a real-man's oil.

I agree...I think these engines that spin to like 9-10k rpm's would shred on a 5-20/30. That's why motorcycles spec. oil with more cojones as well. So all you who think an OHC needs a 'thinner' oil...guess again...

Sprintman, what are the min. cranking temps for both the 25W and 40W? I'm suspecting -10C and 0C respectively???

There are lots of certified applications for 10w-60 oil, and I appreciate your advice regarding applications that may not be listed on the label or the PDS. As for your wisdom regarding "real men", I think that's just too much information!

Cheers

This might be the ultimate oil for the LS1. It would bogg down the engine and prevent piston slap and it is so thick that no oil would be able to get past the rings thereby preventing oil consumption. (J/k)
