It is really not such difficult math.
Let's say you are doing UOA at 5k.
If you drive 5 miles to work, and 5 miles back. You made 10 miles a day and 2 cold starts. At 5k when you decided to do OCI, you will accumulate 1,000 cold starts.
If you drive 10 miles each way, that is 20 miles a day. At 5K when you decide to do UOA you accumulated 500 cold starts.
Not to mention that at 5 miles, the engine in question, N52, will not achieve operating optimal temperature. At 10 miles, it will, which results in less wear overall wear once you reach 5K or 7.5k or 10K whenever you decide to do UOA. For the same reason, doing 100mls one way and 100mls back will result in less wear and overall better condition of oil (bcs. that is the primary function of UOA), than doing 10 miles one way and 10 miles back.
