My 2018 BMW M240i (manual of course) has a high frequency vibration that occurs between 60mph and 70mph only. The vibration hasn't gotten any worse or better over the last year. I's not the tires or wheels as the same vibration occurs whether the has snow tires + aftermarket alloys or the the Michelin PSS + factory alloys (road force balanced). I finally took it my friendly BMW specialist, J&F Motors, in Shirlington (south Arlington). The owner and the lead tech each took the car for a spin. They both seem to think the driveshaft is the cause. The car has abut 45k miles on it, some of those miles being track miles at Summit Point and VIR. I realize there's no way you can feel the vibration but I'm asking for your experiences. Thanks!

Wow! Thanks to both of you for your responses. A new driveshaft is about $188 plus all the other parts needed including the center support bearing and the guibo. Probably close to $2500 when you include labor. OUCH!

I'd get one of the NVH apps and try to narrow it down based on frequency. Don't fire the parts canon.

Hopefully the shop will test things and check other areas before blindly installing a new driveshaft assembly. This era M240i seems to be sensitive to various drivetrain vibrations. At least you know it's not the wheels and tires.

Is this something you are feeling through the whole car or steering wheel? Does it change depending on the gear you are driving in at 60-70 mph?

I feel it primarily in the steering wheel but also in the seat. But I don’t feel it on the shifter.

Do you have access to a vibration analyzer, such as the Pico one?
I asked the shop owner about a vib analyze. He said he's has a couple of them buut he stated that they tend to lead you down a path of replacing past unnecessarily.
