BMW B58 gen3 - Limited engine oil choices?

I think that’s what I’ve decided, both for my S55 and B58. Should work great and it’s cheap at Walmart for $28/5qt
Take advantage of the $10 per jug rebate offer by Mobil 1 through August. Details on posted in the rebates/sales section of the forum.
Limit four jugs/$40. I just filed for mine for ESP 0w-30.

I have been running Motul LL-01 FE 0w30 in my family member’s 2025 X5 because the owners manual says that is an acceptable oil when not using the 0w12. I buy it from FCP Euro. It’s strange that it doesn’t say LL-17 FE but I’m not going to complain.

LL17FE is only 0W20.

B58 gen3.
I found Castro Euro is LL17FE+ in the 0w-20 variant but it’s essentially out of stock everywhere.

Is there anything else other than LM/Motul/BMW oil that’s less expensive but still carries the approvals?
Oil cost is so small in the grand scheme of things. However, I change my B58 every 5k miles and use FCP Euro. Engine oil, filter, engine air filter, cabin filter. Runs me about $18 shipping through PirateShip. They lie about their box dimensions and weight so I just use their same box and receipt that’s in it.

Go with the Motul if you’re looking to actually stay in spec. I know the Gen 3 is different than the Gen 2 I have but the Gen 2 has shown great UOA numbers on heavy oils. I don’t have faith in a 0w20 in Texas heat on a tuned engine or the manufacturers “recommendations”. Again, I’m only speaking to the Gen 2, but engineers have said they wouldn’t run the 0w20 in their own vehicle
