Does your BMW crankcase ventilation system look similar to this http://bmwfans.info/parts/catalog/E39/Se..._oil_separator/ ? That doesn't seem very simple or of very low parts count.

The diagram makes it look WAY more complicated than it is.
Y comes from oil pan. Separators plug into Y pipe and into the front of the plenum. Then a tube runs from each separator into a valve cover.
