blower motor brand?

I was curious so I googled "blower motor Murray VDO" and there are other reports of people receiving VDO in a Murray box from O'Reilly. One review here on Amazon reports this and his overall product review is not glowing:
https://www.amazon.com/VDO-PM9381-B...mzn1.fos.006c50ae-5d4c-4777-9bc0-4513d670b6bc

Since O'Reilly is private-labeling it my instinct is still VDO blower motors = Chinese junk, but I could still be wrong (shrug)

For a blower motor that easy to replace I'd be OK with a no name white box part if I could not fix the existing motor, or if I didn't feel like going to the junkyard.
I would too except I need to do a Taco for a guy. It's REALLY easy to get at but just like the SMA vid on the Nissan, when it fails I'm the one left looking like a boob. Sure, I can swap it in 8 minutes but it's an inconvenience for him and lost time warrantying the part for me.

Really? Other than gauges (VDO) and rubber (Conti), what else do they OEM on domestic vehicles?

I was under the impression that VDO blower motors were just rebadged [something]....like maybe Four Seasons?
VDO bought out Siemens Automotive, who in turn got bought out by Conti. I’ve seen Siemens fan and HVAC motors as OE on Fords.

However, as @Trav said many times about an OE supplier being different for the aftermarket, I installed a VDO blower in a Ford a while ago. OE was a VDO made in the US. Aftermarket blower was also VDO but made in China. The Chinese one fell apart after warranty, which was 30 days.

Which brand blower motor for a 2006 Liberty? I think the Mopar one is out, being 4x the cost.

What did you wind up with?

I have the same 4 choices for my '17 Accord. Motor getting very noisy. I just got an email from RA that my credit (that I forgot about) will expire soon. Enough to cover any of the 4 and front pads for my Pilot.

The Four Seasons one is only slightly different looking one for the external plug. Also says made at their Unimotor facility in Canada. Could be good or bad. Changing it is very easy from what I see. I'm not feeling real confident in the OEM Honda one lasting great either based on many threads in places.

I have used Four Seasons, GPD, TYC and UAC components (condenser/compressor/cooling fans) on other vehicles and didn't have any issues.

Yeah I just got a Four Seasons thru O'Reilly and it was made in Canada. It had a good "heft" to it (relatively). This was for a first gen Taco, though.

I thought nearly all Four Seasons was junk, and maybe this was, too, but I'd rather see Made in Canada than Made in China when it comes to blower motors.

I have a similar thread on this - short version - I bought a VDO for my Xterra a couple years back - it was squealing in 6 months. Rock Auto wouldn't honor the warranty for reasons unknown - didn't even get an RMA.

I bought OEM in my case - no further issues.

I bought a VDO for a 1993 MB 300D I used to own.

It didn’t blow down as slow as the OE, and always had a bit of imbalance. Nowhere as good as OE. I was surprised.

I agree on OEM, or someone else. VDO offshored enough that their product for this isn’t a quality item in my book. It works, but quality… meh.

While brushes can go out, bushings or bearings can as well. My HVAC blower has a squeaky bushing I need to lube.
This. If the motor has access to, or can be disassembled enough to lube it, I'd try that first in any case where it is reasonably accessible.

I also wonder about that with new old stock motors from any brand, if it was made several years ago and just sitting around, might be worth lubing the replacement before installing it.

The four seasons one for Accord said made in MX. The fan was noisier than the OE. The shaft had some up/down play that the OE didn't.

Install very easy. Panel under it has 4 plastic clips by glove box. 3 very easy accessible 8mm screws, one wire harness connector and it comes right out.

4 seasons going back, VDO/Conti on the way. If that dos not make it, new Honda OE it will be.

I know I'm a fan of TYC.. Is TYC available for yours? I know when I installed it in the Civic the air was much more forceful than stock. Sorry if I didn't scroll back if this was already answered in the thread..

I think TYC (much like 4 Seasons et al) just gets stuff from various manufacturers? So, their X blower motor might be awesome but Y is cheap Chinese junk? Maybe not?

I just know for body parts like lenses/headlamps sometimes I get a TYC as the "various manufacturer" from RA (which doesn't EXACTLY prove my theory above)

I know for both my scion and civic, the TYC hvac fan blades were a little longer and wider than the stock blades, causing the fan to move much more air than stock. It's only my experience but it doesn't seem that someone else is making it for TYC with these changes I've see. Same for the radiator cooling fan and the a/c condenser fan. Again that's my experience so far..

I will NEVER waste time with four seasons again! They used to be a good name, not anymore. I cannot count the number of bad AC compressors out of the box as in NOT installable I've seen the past year and a half. Their blower motors I have warrantied a few times too. NO more for me.

Out of the choices you list on RA - I have had good luck with VDO, TYC and GPD. GPD can be iffy as I have seen great stuff and terrible stuff so it's a gamble. The four seasons is just huge NO for me - cost my shop too much time replacing crap that was bad out the box or bad months later. Please don't buy that brand.

TYC is one of the choices for mine and now on sale with a 10% manufacturer rebate :(. UAC, GPD, VDO and 4 seasons are the others. My VDO/Conti is already shipped so that is next try.
