Has anyone else had issues with long delays, with Blackstone labs. The last couple samples have taken much longer. Currently have a sample that has been with them since 9/9. I called twice, and am just told it is being processed.
 
Yes, my sample last month was in their lab for three weeks when I wrote and asked if there was a problem. Got the report the next day.
 
This is why I use Wearcheck and Wearcheck has a great portal.

Thread 'Blackstone turn around time for UOA?'

I have used Blackstone since at least 2002. Their turn around time is usually, send and forget. How are other labs like, OAI (Amsoil affiliate) I mean, it’s not critical but, it’s been at least 3 weeks.

BlackStone was who my father (airframe and power plant mechanic & heavy diesel mechanic since the late 70’s) religiously used and recommended for decades and was literally the only lab I even knew existed before coming here. I was fine with a week or 2 wait, then 3 became the norm, now it’s 4 (or more). The wait times have gotten out of hand considering their price increases, and I’m thinking of going to Oil Analyzers. I like having all of my vehicle records at one place with BlackStone on a standard form that I’m familiar with, but I guess it’s time to get it over with and make the jump...

Thread 'Tired of Blackstone Delays'

Its been over three weeks since I sent my sample in and still no results. Same as with the time before that. That service do other members like.

The last couple of samples I sent in took four weeks or so. The second one I was expecting to, so it wasn't a big deal.
 
Discussed quite a bit in this thread. I've experienced the same unacceptable turnaround times and blackstone no longer gets my business.

Thread 'Done with Blackstone'

Been with them for decades. No more. Takes 2+ weeks and the last two times..even though it went to their correct address. They lost them for 2 weeks. Does anyone use NAPA?

9/9? My last sample was a solid 26 business days. One more reason to not use them.
 
You can spend less & get a quicker turnaround elsewhere. In my experience I've never had to wait 3-4 weeks for any of the labs I've used. Especially, when I've called to ask about it. I've never used BS but I do like their universal averages they give you.
 
I sent Blackstone two sample bottles in early August, and it was USPS that for whatever reason took 2-3 weeks <!> to deliver the package. Once USPS delivered the samples, it only took about a week to get the UOA results.

Note: I used the "old" shipping method, which is just sending the screw-on cap container with USPS tracking label, since I had a few still laying around, vs the "new" bagged method, which places the container in a Tyvek envelope.

I switched from Blackstone to Wearcheck, because the Wearcheck analysis is more sophisticated, they have a really good portal, and the turn around time, like clock work, is about 3 days from when they get the sample. To me, is the difference between Blackstone and Wearcheck is night and day.

Where do you find sample kits for wear check? I may try them just because oil analyzers portal is really bad.
 
3 weeks minimum. After that I went with Oil Analyzers and more accurate tests. especially fuel %. Next one I am trying Wear Check/HPL

Pablo, do you know what shipping carrier Amsoil sends the kits out to us with? Do they use the same carrier for motor oil? Is it UPS/Fedex/ Something else?
