I’m starting to realize I’m getting older and with age comes wisdom, at least it should come at some point.

I also realize we need to pass our knowledge to the next generations so let’s put our collective heads together and teach the youngsters a thing or two.

I’ll start:

My dad, as much as I don't care for him, always said if you want to act like an animal then you can go live outside with the animals.

When I was a teenager or even a young man, I would often make the same mistakes more than once. Often with over spending, buying expensive thing without research, bad choices with girlfriends, living situations etc.

My Dad would say to me, “Stop jumping in the fire!” Meaning, stop making the same poor decisions or choices and expecting different results.

I still see today, grown adults in their 50s, 60, 70s still jumping in the fire. We need to learn from our own mistakes and the mistakes of others. I have learned a lot of good things from Dad and others who came before me. I’ve also learned from others of what kind of person that I don’t want to be.

Best advice I ever received was from my mom during my high school and college days..."Make me a mother-in-law before you make me a grandmother".... I saw too many friends/school mates/coworkers whoever mess up and I wanted nothing to do with how bad it messed up their younger years.
