Biting the bullet on torque converter replacement

Due to torque converter shudder I should probably replace the converter on my '13 Dodge Charger 5.7 Hemi R/T. There apparently are no new NAG1 722.6 converters being manufactured to my knowledge. People seem to go with reman units and I can get one on RockAuto for $203 after shipping, tax, and core return.

I was contemplating getting an FTI or Circle D performance 2,600 rpm lock up converter instead of a reman. I cannot verify the actual stall speed of the factory converter other than the veribage "medium stall". These are $800 but promise additional reliability and performance over stock but there is the possibility this converter will require a custom tune which is even more money.

The car is not modified however forums have stated these converters drive like stock until you hit the gas at which time the higher stall speed is noticeable.

Just deciding whether I want to do this on my back in the driveway or let someone with a lift install it.

That's a big job for a cheap replacement- but some converters are just stupid for pricing. I found a guy who rebuilds non molested oem to a better spec. No need for CircleD and such.
