I had an issue with swallows nesting right above our front porch.

Yeah, they look cute until the entryway is covered in bird droppings.
Spikes don’t work well as these little guys will just put mud in between and still make a nest.

I finally found this gel product that stays sticky and prevents them from landing. Kept them away all spring this year successfully.

Not sure how long it will last, but so far this season it’s working as advertised.

I've got robins that have an unhealthy attraction to the garage lights. I currently have CVS bags tied to the top of the lights and that seems to have discouraged them from nesting there.

Even though they leave a big mess in the corner of my front porch it's nothing a pre wash with a hose before a quick pressure wash and a muriatic acid soak after can't fix and it's only once a year. I like them and I'll let them nest.

I love those tree swallows. They are very human friendly. When I mow my fields with my z turn, they do figure 8's all around me catching the bugs I stir up. I learned to focus on a rising moth and seeing the bird scarf it out of midair. Really cool. The other day I was about to quit mowing when several of them arrived and started feeding. I kept mowing just to watch.Lol
But I wouldn't want them over my front door.

I have a problem with nesting sparrows. I pull down and discard the nest before any egg laying takes place.

And then there are Mourning Doves...I had one pair nest in the gutter on my garage. It looked like they just grabbed some twigs and tossed them in. The big thing was that they chose the spot right where the downspout from the upper roof empties into that gutter. It's almost like they didn't want to further their line or something, and I guess that's what happened because I haven't seen any since.

I have robins that nest under my deck on top of an outdoor light. They won't reuse a nest and I've seen them stack up up 3 high. I kicked a nest out one spring but did it too late and the robin took high offense to that. He pecked at my slider door all day long banging into it and making a ruckus. He'd migrate south in the fall and come back in the spring and continue his banging and ruckus making. This went on for several years. One spring he returned looking quite a bit older with grey feathers. That was his last summer banging on the slider window. There is another nest in the same spot now. I'm kicking it out in the fall and taking steps to keep them out.
