I didn't post this in the biodiesel section because I didn't want to be lambasted by the believers. My question is aren't there some very expensive risks involved with brewing your own diesel fuel out vegetable oil, old french fry grease or whatever? With the cost of injectors and fuel pumps and with the risk of plugged fuel filters in cold weather, is this exercise worth the hassle? I remember about 20 years ago, a local bulk dealer received a batch of diesel that was ill-formulated and there was a rash of destroyed fuel pumps as a result. To me one runs this risk at worst or is producing #@$%! fuel at best.

Ron,
it's less complicated (to me at least), than making a decent home brew.

That being said, the I.P. in my current machine is nearly $5 grand, so the worst it's ever going to see with home made is small quantities just to add a little lubricity, not a tank full.

I'd love a cheap 80's 4 cyl diesel ute with an inline pump to play with 'though.
