With all the chicken processing plants in Arkansas we have plenty of chicken fat. I visited the University here at Russellville. I went to the Chemistry Lab and saw Dr. Bob Allen. He has made some biodiesel fuel out of this chicken oil. I saw a small quantitiy of biodiesel fuel made from this chicken oil and it was a very dark orange color.

The only problem is that this process really stinks. ConAgra has a production plant in Carthage, MO. that was producing high grade petroleum products from "chicken parts". It was recently shut down by our state environmental agency due to the odor from the plant. I drove through Carthage on the way to work each Wednesday and smelt it. BOY WHAT A BAD ODOR!!!!

The oil I saw and smelled was normal. However this was a residue type oil from the chicken as I understood it. The unprocessed oily residue is dumped on fields for fertilizer. I will get more info on this when I go back and talk to Dr. Allen. He understands it very thorough.
We have a protein processing plant here that processes waste animal parts, mainly chicken. I think it is then used in dog food. If I had to smell that stink for very long, I would take up cigars. The secret here is never pass that plant on a humid day within one our of prior/after eating. If you want to diet, pass it just before a meal.

One might build an odor filter using damp soil and forced air. The bacteria in the soil would eat the odor molecules as they passed through. You'd have to find out exactly what parts the smell comes from, and set up fume extractors.

What the cluck!!!! Do this and PETA would run amuk!!!!

Likely tar and feather the offender utilizing the rendered critter crud to propel the conveyance.

Even though PETA doesn't have a leg to stand on it would be on a wing and a prayer that a chicken-diesel car could avoid being harassed by the fanatic pro-critter crowd.

You just know PETA would give it their bre@st shot to shut down the use of chicken innards as fuel, no matter how fuelish PETA's stand is.
