Im just curious... In a list of oil makers such as Valvoline, Quaker State, Kendall, Motul, Exxon, Mobil.

Who is the biggest seller of conventional oil?
Who is the biggest seller of semi-synthetic blends?
Who is the biggest seller of pure synthetic (PAO or otherwise, just labeled synthetic)?

Anyone have the statistics on this?

It would be interesting to know the data. Searching online all I can find is links to big$$$$ reports.

My guess would be that in the US the Shell Lubricants group probably has the largest market share given their Pennzoil, Quaker State and Shell brands.

Mobil-1 has got to be the clear market share leader in synthetic motor oils.

Blends don't seem to have a standout bestseller.

Unfortunately I have no hard data to back this up

.

For the majors their lubricants business is a small revenue contributor compared to fuels.

By oil "makers" I think you really mean brand names and only in the USA.

By that measure it is something like

Pennzoil for conventional
Valvoline for blends
Mobil for synthetics

Overall lube oil sales by company breaks down more like

Shell
Valvoline
ChevronTexaco
ExxonMobil
BP
ConocoPhillips
