It is my belief that such an endeavor isn't worth the effort.

Are you going to extend the OCI by an approximately equal amount relative to the volume increase? (probably not)
Are you able to prove that the oil volume increase would somehow make an engine "cooler", when the engine temp is goverened by a liquid cooled system that uses a thermostat to moderate temps? (most certinaly not)
Are you able to prove that the oil volume increase will somehow reduce wear by making the sump X% cleaner by volume? (seriously doubt it; there's no way that such a small volume shift would be discerned in any meaningful way)
- Cons: adding a quater of a liter will risk exactly what?
Possible warranty denial, in the very unlikely event that a filter-related failure occurs? (this is a real risk; admittedly remote because filter-related failures resulting in engine damage are very rare)
You can go ahead and add the oil to the sump, but you don't need to hide that volume in a larger filter; that's just a silly way to try and justify the ease of dumping the bottle in.
