How good is BG Gear Oil? I am buying a GX470 that the service records show it just had the front and rear diffs changed with BG 75w-140 and the transfer case changed with BG 75W-80. The parts guy said it was synthetic.

Just how good is this BG Gear Oil?

I have done a search. "BG" won't come up for me.

I'd replace both with new top tier brands

Here is their website

https://www.bgprod.com/

They manufacture their products in El Dorado, KS. Several garages around here sell their fluid protection packages. The products you mentioned are full synthetic per their website. Their fluid protection program recommends changeing about every 30K miles, which I find very conservative for a full synthetic product.

No need to change immediately as I have heard no extreme negative reviews of their products

Same company who makes BG44K fuel system cleaner.

I have used BG products for 20 years. Not this fluid, but their other stuff is very good

I am just trying to decide whether to switch out to Amsoil Severe Gear or leave it alone. Sometimes I have more money than I have good sense.

We have been using BG products at the dealership I'm at for about 5 years now. Never had any issues with them that I'm aware of. I would be interested to see a VOA or any sort of comparison to other quality gear oils. BG tends to be super secretive
when it comes to any information on their products.
