I’m looking at all terrain tyres and the BFG ATKO2 get some good reviews but also gets some poor rain handling reviews too.
Does anyone have direct experience with the latest version of this tyre?

Thanks

I have them in the 6 ply version. 265/70R17 size. Also have them on some trucks at work.

I had Duratracs before and they suck. KO2s are superior in everything except mud.

Rain stopping is OK for a A/T. Tread pattern is too tight for good performance in mud.

Smooth as glass on the freeway at 80 mph.

Totally agree. My girlfriend has duratracs and I have KO2's, I can't stand driving her truck. Those Duratracs are just awful.

I’ve got duratracs at the moment and yes they are a bit noisy with some vibration at speed. I run a second set of wheels with some Pirelli’s on most of the time but these are about done now so looking for a tyre that I can leave on so I don’t need the duratracs.

If you don't need them for snow, they are a decent all purpose tire. Their snow performance sucks, and is where the Duratracs shine.

They do, but the last set I bought last year, 275/70/18 were made in Brazil. I’m trying to avoid products from “BRICS” countries for now. Many Toyo and Nitto tires are made in the USA (White, Georgia plant), others in Japan including Yokohama and most Hankook in South Korea.

I love the Duratracs on my Trooper 🤷
I always had good experiences with Duratracs as well, the reason I stopped buying them is the price for the sizes I need are way above all of the other tires in that category.

I have the BFG KO2's in 31x10.5R15 on my Jeep Wrangler and they are fantastic. Great ride, great traction. Hard to give an honest review on tread wear, since these only have maybe 10,000 miles on them. The set I had previously on a lifted Cherokee XJ went 50k miles.

I've never owned a car with them, but I've driven vehicles with them for short periods of time. On a Toyota Tundra they really struggled to grab in the wet when taking off normally from a stop light in 2WD.

These new BFGs look promising. More open hybrid tread design should be better in mud and snow. Only available in 10 ply L/T LR E so they are heavy.

They’re pretty great in everything except rain. Sometimes I have to put it in 4 high to be able to pull out onto a certain road… Probably won’t buy them again for that reason.

So as I expected people don’t rate them in the rain which isn’t great in a country like the UK.

It’s difficult to find a tyre in a suitable size that’s being imported here that gets good reviews.

I can buy cheep tyres but I don’t want cheap tyres.

IMO you're fine. Shouldn't really be hot-rodding in anything that needs All Terrains anyway.

Just slow down when it rains. 🤷

I’m not bothered about going fast, it’s a Land Rover Discovery 4 (LR4 to you lot) with a 3.0 diesel engine so it’s not built for speed, be it straight line or cornering. I’m after a tyre that I can put on that will, as far as possible, allow me to do some off-roading and still drive reasonably well on tarmac at 70mph.

They’d probably be fantastic on something that has more weight over the rear axle vs a pick up truck like mine. Mine don’t hydroplane (even at 70+), they brake decently, they’re pretty quiet, it’s just getting going from a dead stop is a problem.
