Anybody have experience with these? I had a set of BFG's years ago, different model the Traction T/A, which I was extremely pleased with. Tire rack reviews look VERY goood on these and they seem sort of similar to the old traction t/a's. Other tires I'm looking at are the Cooper Ultra CS5. Snow traction, wet braking and quiet/smooth ride are the priorities along with price.

I had a set and hated them. Despite regular rotations & alignments, they started cupping badly and the noise made me think all my wheel bearings were shot. Turned out the belts were separating. They wore like iron, though.

There have been a couple sets of these in the family-they lasted a long time, but bad weather traction wasn't good, at all. The Cooper CS4/CS5s & General RT43s have been a LOT better.

What tire size?

If snow traction is important, and you're not going to use a separate set of tires for the winter, then consider an all-season with teh 3-peak symbol, such as:
Goodyear Weatherready
Toyo Celsius
Vredestein Quatrac 5
Nokian WRG4

The previous set of tires I had on my Fusion were BFG Advantage T/A tires. They were okay, but I don't consider them great. They're an older tire line and IMHO have fallen behind more modern designs. I ended up replacing them with Cooper tires, and I found the Coopers to be a definite step up. If I were in your shoes, I would definitely go with the CS5's over the T/A's.

Went with the Cooper CS5 Ultra on her Nissan Rogue. First impression is good, we will see how they turn out!

Just out of curiosity, is anyone watching this thread familiar with the older H- and V-rated BFG Traction T/A? Back when they were a rallye inspired performance tire, not after they turned into a OE econo tire. I had them on a Crown Vic and a Firebird and absolutely loved them for driving stupid. Anything out there like that now?
