Best Year Around Choice

What would be the best choice for a year around oil from the following choices?

Mobil 1 High Mileage 10w30
Mobil 1 High Mileage 10w40
Delo 5W40
Redline 10W30
Redline 10W40

The application is a 2002 Camaro Z28. I have been running Delo 5w40 for several years, but is there a better choice? Cost is not really an issue as this car is summer driven and gets an oil change once per year, usually about 4-5000 miles.

I tend to be a thicker is better type, but the real issue for me HTHS. I like to use A3 oil if possible. Weather conditions in the summer range up to 100F.

As a follow up, I have been using Delo 5w40 year around in my other cars, a 92 Escort GT and 98 3.3 Dodge Caravan. I recently tried Mobil 1 High Mileage 10w30 in both and didn't notice any mileage change in either vehicle. I would like to stick with one oil for all of them, what would be best? I usually go 6k OCI on synthetic oil.

Delo 5W-40 is a great oil. If you're happy with it, no reason to change.

IF you're looking to save a bit of money, Shell Rotella T 5W-40 is a similar oil that may cost you less.

up in washington I might consider the Mobil 1 High Mileage 5w30

I'd go with the HDEO 5W-40. 5-6k mile/1 year isn't extreme, but would put less of a stress on a robust oil like an HDEO 5W-40.

Yeah, that's an HDEO, also. It would apply to my statement. Also, my particular favorite is Rotella-T Synthetic 5W-40.

HM Mobil 1 10w30 or 5w30 or AFE 0w30 is what i'd run,thats a roller motor no need for a thicker HDEO,nothing wrong with it but not needed.

Mobil 1 5w30 Extended Performance works well for me here in Illinois.

How is your overall internal engine condition? Consumption, etc.? I just think HDEO's are hard to beat for the money, and can do what the more expensive oils can do.

The only downside is viscosity. Usually a thick start up viscosity. But, I don't think it's anything major in the synthetic versions.

All three vehicles are in good condition. No oil consumption, good fuel economy, clean inside. Winter temperatures in Eastern Washington really aren't that extreme in the winter. Lowest temperature of the year is usually around zero F for a few days, and typically in the low 20's December and January.

When there is a lot of snow on the roads, starting a car is the least of my worries!

Thanks for the replies. I initially went to Delo 15w40 as a summer oil. I started using the 5w40 in the winter because it seemed it would do anything 15w40 would do, except it could do it in the winter, too. I have used Delo 10w30 in the winter, and it worked great.

I have an old school SBC with a mild flat tappet Comp cam (268HE), and I have been using Delo 15w40 in it since I rebuilt it in 2004.

I really like the high HTHS in the HDEO's.

If I could get my hands on Delo 5w-40 and 10w30, I'd use them for sure.

I assume everyone is talking about the "non-LE" version of DELO?

Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck or Delvac 1 would be my vote.

I imagine you beat on the car pretty heavily when you DO drive it? I know that is the case with myself.........

Just bought a case of CI-4+ Delvac 1 to continue my 5w40 regiment. I am very happy with the results thus far.
