What is the best stuff to use to keep corrosion off electrical connections? I used dielectric grease in the past, but I hear fluid film is better? What do you guys recommend? I need something that i can apply directly to the pin connections BEFORE they get pushed together. I'm trying to prevent this from happening again in the engine compartment of my boat bilge.

Skip the grease. Put the clean and corrosion free connectors together dry. Use Scotch 33 or 88 and tape the connection so as not to allow moisture in. You can also use heat shrink in some applications. Cut it free and inspect after every boating season. Dielectric grease has fooled me more than once. Failing connector underneath the grease. If you have to use grease, than Silicone Di Electric or Vaseline are both go to's.

I agree with most dielectric grease is your answer. Clean first with contact cleaner.

Contact cleaner/electrical parts cleaner or alcohol and a small bit of agitation to clean, dielectric grease to seal.

These kinds of connectors use friction to make a connection, so the act of disconnecting and reconnecting will usually also clean the contacts well enough that no special cleaner is needed. Disconnect, grease, reconnect.

Thanks for the responses. Yes, I cleaned the contacts with crc electric contact cleaner and hit it with a bronze wire brush. Its clean now. I'm replacing the harnesses because the wires lose contact when I wiggle them. Ill just use dielectric grease again. Thanks for the responses.

Find a power company lineman and ask him for a dollop of Penetrox , Kernelex , or whatever product their company uses . He'll probably give you a partial bottle . That is exactly what that stuff is designed for . I used it for decades on electrical connections .
