1995 plymouth neon. ive used fram filters most fo my life, starting wit the extraguard series. i ahave used Mobil 1 oil for about a year now, synthetic,a dn used Mobil 1 filter. last oil change(every 3 months) i used a fram tough guard, composed of cellulose and synthetic glass, which would be the best, fram tough gurad o Mobil 1?

Mobil 1 filter by a long shot. You'll find a lot of people don't have a high opinion of fram filters here.

Mobil 1 is IMO, the best spin-on oil filter in the world..........What is this "Fram" product that you speak of?
I say just go with Wix or PureOne and stop worrying. Better price than M1, more than adequate filtering/protection. Still, hard to beat M1...
Spend some time looking at this oil filter study and compare the different brands for yourself: Oil Filter Study My vote is for the Purolator PremiumPlus for what I consider the best combination of filtration and flow.
1995 Neon??? I'd use the cheapest filter possible, supertech would be a good choice, no need to spend the extra $$$
Unless your putting megamiles on every 3 months, your oci is probably too frequent with M1 if you are a 3month/3k type of guy. Don't know why that wasn't pointed out earlier. But I can't argue with success if you've been using Frams all your life.

i was speaking in general, of the fram tough guard filter. i go through a fair deal, of stop and go traffic, in hot and cold weather, hihgway traveling, but on highway here, soemtimes it goes fom cruise to stop and go too. car parts sotres here dont carry purolators, although ive read alot about them! i was reading abou amsoil filter,s, i had called them. their supposed ot have very good flow , and filter down to 7 to 10 microns! i was gunna try the amsoil filter next. i already used the mobile filter nad liked it alot! but i like ot try differnt things see how they perform ect.

so I guess as far as restriction wise, my Honda K20A3 is indifferent between the two...
Needlessly to say, I switched back to PureOne, at $5.99 a pop versus $10.99 for the Mobil 1 filter, PureOne wins hands down....

Yes - am curious how some people determine if they like or do not like a filter. I guess if it leaked all over your driveway you would hate it, but for the most part, your oil filter does not effect performance nor MPG. Maybe people look at the oil color after so many miles and the cleaner it looks the better, but thats subjective.
When Consumer Reports tested oil and filters they had identical taxi cabs run for 6 months and then they tore down the engines and measured some critical engine parts. I assume few people do that.

I think price, start up noise, and judgements from cutting open the filters are the biggest factors. A $10 filter has to better than a $2 one.
I totally agree. If there's no start up rattle/whine (Napa-Wix/Champion brands), leaks or seepage(wix), easily dented cans or the various fram issues I've had (rusted cans, gasket stuck on mounting surface of engine, hard as heck to get off) and it's been proven a good operational filter by lab reports then that's what I go with.
I'm not knocking any of the above brands, these are all problems that I've encountered at one time or another and the only manufacturer I have had NO issues with at all are the various Purolator brands (prem+, Pure1, Motorcraft, some Quaker State and Mopars, and above all the IMO best bang for the buck filter Advance Total Grip.)

so is the Advance Autos the same as the pure one or just the premium purolator ?
I too like the Advance Auto's Total Grip.
I cut open the PF-47 version and there seems to be little if any difference between the TG and the Purolator that I cut open.
The TG's can was a little thinner but other than that,it seems to be made good.
