I wrote of a recent experience with Puro. Classic, p/n p14677, I think, it's around $3.50 at Walmart, what in your experience is the best oil filter you can get for around $5 at a big box store , including NAPA, I can't find Puro.Pure One's anywhere, so I am ruling them out...

How close to "around $5" do you want to stay? What's your "hard limit" that you don't want to spend more $$$ than?

Ed

Sorry I didn't quantify that very well..How about under $10.

What vehicle application?

Have you considered the Fram Ultra? You can buy those at WalMart.

2001 Camry 4cyl, the 2007-2010? 4cyl oil filter works as well.

Amazon. With Prime, shipping is free. Or Bosch which the "Zon" also offers. BTW I think you should be looking for the 14477, not 146. Into VHF at all?

That code is for the Camry.

For that, you can easily get affordable Denso Filters ($4 to $5) at the dealership and they are great filters. Even cheaper sources online (RockAuto). Also Napa Silver is a Wix filter and for our 2002 ES are $3.30 at the local Napa. If you want to splurge, the Napa Gold (Wix, too) is top flight.

Thanks for all the suggestions, Napa, Wix and Fram it is!

You can't go wrong with Wix or Napa Gold. Napa filters are made by Wix. Napa in my area has Napa Gold #1394 for $6.75. That will fit your Camry 2.2L. Wix or Napa Gold are consistently good performers. O'Reilly's has the branded WIX #51394 for $6.99 in my area.

WIX should be a BITOG sponsor. Somebody should tell 'em.

Fram Ultra is $8.99 at Walmart. There's a current mail in rebate of $2.00. That makes it $6.99. You can use it for 2 oil changes which makes it $3.49-$3.50 per oil change. The same price as a Tearolator oops I mean Purolator.

FRAM should be a BITOG sponsor too. They get oodles and oodles of free advertising for their Ultra filter on here. If only ZeeOSix got $5 every time he mentioned FRAM Ultra.

+1 they also have very good filteration.

You could even do 3 OCI if you run 5k iv seen people do tear downs in the past with over 15k miles and they still seem to hold up very well.

I want to say Fram love is 50/50 on this board at the extreme levels. People seem to bash the OCOD and then love the Fram Ultras.

Haven't read too much dissatisfaction with the Wix fliters though on this site.
