Hey guys, I would like to know what it's the best OCI for my current vehicle aplication.

I'm the owner of a 2000 GM Blazer equipped with the 4.3l vortec powertrain, I live in Brazil and right now it's summer and the temperatures are usually around 100 F°, I usually face a lot of heavy traffic and do short trips, along with some mild highway driving, no towing or heavy loads at all.

The vehicle has about 82,000 miles, and it seems to consume about 250/300 ml every 1.000km.

And the most important data:

I'm running Mobil 1 5w30 and the owner's manual impose OCI of 2500 miles during severe service.

Oil technology has sure advanced in the 16 years since your Blazer's manual was written. Your consumption isn't bad at all. so the engine is in good shape.

Even in severe service, I would be comfortable going 5,000 miles on regular M1 without a used oil analysis. I would go 7 -8,000 on Mobil 1 Extended Performance or one of the ACEA long drain rated M1 products (like the 0w40) without a used oil analysis...now, if you're able to get a used oil analysis, then you would know for certain how long you could go, but I'm a very conservative person, and others will likely tell you to go farther on M1 than I would...

They are known for rear main seal leaks with age, and M1 is expensive top off. I'd switch to a blend or high mileage, best bet MaxLife Blend - either 5 or 10w30. Every 10,000km is fine for OCI, just keep it topped off. It's hard to kill that engine if you keep any oil in it at all - I've seen them at auctions w 400-500,000 miles on them.

+1 Either Maxlife or Pennzoil High Mileage. Those engines aren't picky and as long as you keep up with the basics it will last you a long, long time. I wish they still made those blazers. good size and those engines were darn good.

I ran Pennzoil High Mileage 10w30 in my wifes 2000 Blazer 4.3,but as was stated before the rear main seal started leaking with 110K on the clock, 5K was my routine, car ran great but we sold it to her niece and momma got a brand new 2015 GMC Terrain DENALI 3.6

Id switch to something cheaper and leave it for 10k kms. Since you will need about 2.5 quarts for top off. Maybe a HM blend would be a good option?

I have available to me Shell Helix and Rimula, Mobil Super and 1, Castrol GTX and Magnatec, Havoline, some Valvoline. I also have the Petrobras Lubrax. Mostly are available from SAE 5w30 to 10w40.
