Best Interior House Paint?

While I would agree the top contractor paint stores are clearly the best, I default to convenience at home and work for latex wall paints. I am at Menard's and Home Depot almost daily and multiple times on those days. Half the time it is 2-3 trips a day. I mostly buy Behr.

One of the biggest things I found out is both the two top versions of Behr paint dries way way too fast. Even if you add latex paint additive to slow down it's drying speed and reduces the orange peel, the drier in the two top versions still overpower the latex additive. This makes the a very ugly orange peel. I have bounced those paints once at work and my wife bought the top Behr paint when I was painting some large doors and of course it was drying way too fast and an ugly orange peel, I had to sand them down and repaint. Bounced that paint. I now ONLY use their ULTRA version as it drys slow and you get a nice finish.

Many people at the paint booth have said Home Depot just followed the push from non skilled paint buyers they wanted a fast drying paint. Most of them said they only buy the ULTRA too, as overly fast drying paint kills the quality of your job. The top two Behr paints get an F from me. Behr ULTRA is all I use. I know it is not the best, but it's good enough for my 2 coats.

Pittsburg Paramount is a excellent paint, seems better overall than many other paints in my experience.

I also like SW Pro-Mar ceiling paint it’s cheap, dead flat and nice crisp white. The Glidden pink to white ceiling paint is also fairly cheap and is really really crisp and white but it is a very thick product and does no go far at all. Think around 200 sq ft per gallon. I like it but was shocked when I needed 3+ gallons for two rooms.

The last projects I did for the parents have all been with a mix of Benjamin Moore and Behr paints. Just redid their staircase/hallway with Ben, applied as nice as Regal Select but hide wasn’t as good. But I tried out PPG’s “spec” paint on the ceiling, it worked out well.

I’ve used Marquee for a friend’s house and was happy with it. IMO, Behr’s nicer paints are a cut above Premium Plus(and you can do a lot worse than that) but the price creep into BM/SW territory, I’ll buy BM instead.
