If you go to the Paint desk at Lowe's and ask how their Sherwin Williams offerings align with those in the Sherwin Williams stores they will produce card to show how they compare. This isn't a Lowe's card, it is supplied to Lowe's by Sherwin Williams. The Sherwin Williams Infinity sold at Lowe's is a very good paint.

I used Zinsser Cover Stain Primer/Sealer, which is oil-based, as a one-coat bright white paint (with a little retouching afterward) over dark paneling in my kitchen a couple of years ago. It dried fast and really brightened the kitchen. That was good enough. It runs about $40 per gallon.

When I painted last SW Cashmere was the top line wall paint and it is awesome. It goes on smooth, doesn't leave roller tracks, and is very washable without rubbing off or getting shiny. SW Emerald trim paint is the best trim paint I've tried.

Just trialed the SW semi-gloss trim paint and it is very nice. Flowed well, and covered nicely. Of course, no water based trim paint I've ever used flows like oil based, but it's a whole lot easier to clean up.

Yep, my thoughts too. Stepped "down" if you will from their more expensive lines to superpaint for everything but kitchen and kitchen cabinets. Found it's plenty durable for my needs.

For wall paint, the Red Gillden from Home Depot in the 5 gallon pail or Pittsburgh from Menards in the 5 gallon pail. They do the the job in 2 coats just fine at around $100 / 5 gallons it a good value.
I did a job with Sherwin Williams Emerald. It is Hella expensive and still required 2 coats. Didnt see the point.
So for me I repainted the interior of my house with the Red Glidden 5 gallons from HD.
Trim paint is a different animal. I dont have a good answer there. I have never gotten it to lay flat.

Fair enough comment. In my search of paint reviews, there is a noteworthy difference in coverage with different paints, though. And the paints with more acrylic perform much better in terms of scrubbing. $100/5 gallons is way cheaper than what I paid, though. You can paint two times (or three) for the price of one!
Did a little more painting recently, and the SW semi-gloss paint is outstanding. Well, the Emerald was, anyway. I had some fresh drywall, so primed that first using SW Premium Wood & Wall Primer, their mid price primer product, and it was just okay. Or maybe it was great, and I don't know the difference in primers? The wall soaked up the paint like no tomorrow, and didn't flow well.
I need to buy a paint mixing spinner. Emerald separates quickly, and stirring a 5 gallon bucket is not easy work using a stick. I also need to buy more rollers. Do you guys wash them out, or just trash? I'm old skool, and wash them, but quickly realizing it's not worth the effort. Has anyone tried the Amazon Basics paint rollers?
Side note, SW has extended their 30% off sale. I'm starting to question whether I have enough paint? I bought 5 gallons of wall paint and same amount of semi-gloss. 1350 sq ft house. Kitchen, mud room, bathroom, and trim with the semi, the rest wall paint. Do I have enough paint?

Im a fan of Glidden, always will be. One coat, inexpensive and it goes on a wall. (cant remember if it was from Home Depot or Lowes that we buy it) All paints are pretty much water color, called latex.
Funny thing about it is I like it because it is a little thinner so I feel goes on smoother without lines or roller marks.
In our house there is no need to scrub and clean walls etc. Get tired of the color in a decade or so repaint/ The cost savings is significant.

Yeah I have Emerald in bathrooms and the Duration everywhere else, both in a satin. I ended up repainting basically the whole house a couple of years after putting Superpaint everywhere because I couldn't even lightly wash it with a wet paper towel without the sheen coming off. In bathrooms surfactant would leach out. Duration and Emerald both seem far better in both aspects...no issues with durability for cleaning and the Emerald in the bathrooms does great with the added moisture.

I'll stick to Ben Moore, Sherwin Wiliams, Valspar (owned by SW) and on the west coast Dunn Edwards. Much better results with those brands than Behr. Pay more, get more and watch for SALES in the spring. I've dealt with S-W stores and found them very helpful and well stocked with tools and other products.
Fresh drywall will always soak up that coat of primer and 1st coat of paint from my experience. There is nothing like the smoothness of new drywall and the first rounds of primer/paint!
For rollers, I just throw them away now-adays. I used to do a good bit of painting and had some really nice lambswool rollers, but anymore it isn't worth it to me. I'll buy the 3 pack of Purdy rollers for a job each time. Much less frustration. Now, my paint brushes are a different story. Those get cleaned well. I've got a couple that are 12+ years old.

I used to clean them in the sink with nice hot water, but now that I live out in the country there's no way I'm putting that stuff down the septic system, so all throw away stuff for me. The garden hose can only clean so much off with cold water when it comes to rollers.
If I am hiring a painter we use what he prefers. Then any paint issues are on him.Sorry, had to use that title! Almost as bad as asking what's the "best oil"? Ha ha

Paint sheens have evolved. Walls moving from flat to matte, and trim from semi-gloss to satin. This is just popular trend, of course.
Sherwin Williams has a sale right now, 30% off, which brings down their prices to just a smig higher than big box store premium paint prices, so I pulled the trigger. Picked SW Emerald. Consumer's Report rated this stuff below many box store paints, but all other reviews rate it highly. Project Farm liked it, so it's a lock!
