Ok so I have this friend who I've known for like 15 years. He recently met a girl and is dating her now. This guy is the type who always answers his phone. There has been times that he has been really busy with work and not called me back for a few weeks. I really don't have any other friends who are dependable like him. All of the other people I know aren't really true friends or they are just plain flaky and waste my time by cancelling on me at the last minute etc. Do you think think this is just a phase he's in at the moment? I don't call that often. Maybe once a week. Do you think once the newness wears off with this girl and he spends enough time with her that he will go back to hanging out with me? I'm just pretty lonely and I've run out of things to do by myself. Even my social skills are beginning to dwindle away in the wind. It's boring doing things by yourself.

Some men get wrapped up when in a new relationship. So much that they become ignorant to old friends and do what's basically happening now. It is irritating, but also pretty common unfortunately.

I have learned to forgive the person and let them do their thing with the life change. I would try to get in touch to let them know to hang out and you miss them, most people don't even realize they do this when starting a new relationship. I wouldn't get too upset and let it affect your friendship -- especially since friendships will usually last far longer than a new romance.

Quick answer if she is the one no. After I met my wife I still hung out with my friends everyone once in a while even after I got married.

But now we have 3 boys I only talk to my friends once every two months. Being married and having a family takes most of my free time. The rest of my "free" time is spent cleaning cars, yard, or house.

Find a social group or bar that has a theme that peeks your interest(sports, sci-fi, motorsports, ect.) Once you are in a comfortable environment you should have no problems socializing.

Lucky, that u have a friend like this... That u can depend on.
Yes I think that this will wear off... Affection at 1st might be strong

Ive seen friends come and go because of relationships. I know when I met my wife and we started spending a lot of time together, the time spent with other friends dropped. Some may get jealous, Ive never encountered it but does not mean that some may.

She may also be controlling. Have you met her? Does she like you?

Where am I? I thought i was on a motor oil forum.

This is what women do to men. He's still your friend, but right now she is fulfilling needs that you can't. He'll come back... In the meantime, have you thought of gong out amd finding your own female friend?

I try but girls won't ever give my their number. Even though I compliment them and ask about them to show my interest. I guess the best thing to do is to just not bother contacting him and wait for him to contact me first?

I haven't met her. I bet he just doesn't want her listening on his phone conversations which is why he doesn't call. Just a guess. A lot of people aren't themselves around someone until they know each other long enough so maybe he's paranoid at the moment. Just as guess.....

Try online dating. Tinder or wtv its called? Lots of ppl looking to meet. Jus sayin...or join a club or gym or etc...good luck..keep ur head up!

Just keep doing what you're doing... Leave a voice mail or shoot text. Not a lot but just a quick how's it going

I'd say right now it's all about him and his new squeeze. Don't take it personally and don't let it change who you are

Very cool place to meet new people...? Find a rock climbing gym. Great exercise, loads of people - especially in the winter. Easy to make conversation as you're all doing the same thing. All age groups

Just a thought...

MOM: My best friend of 50yrs, two wives, and two combat tours is no longer with us and I still miss him. Things in life change, you can only change yourself. Examine what kind of friend you really are and what you want to be....then proceed.
Your future is yours, take it.

Quit the forum which has only guys on it and join the one where females hang out.

(If I knew the name of that forum, do you think I would be here??)

Hate to say it, but sounds like the girlfriend doesn't like you. You know how it is fellas, if the chick ain't happy.....just be cool and try to do things with the three of ya'll in mind. Heck, she may have some friends and hook you up!!

Dude! C'mon!!! In case your not aware, she's giving him sonething you never will !! Your not gonna match that up for about 6 months when their "stupid love" becomes "normal love".

Best you can do is leave him a message asking if she's got a friend she can hook up with you..

Most likely the reason your pal is ignoring you is what most folks suggest...he's occupied with extracurricular activities. It's annoying, I've been through it a few times with friends. Sometimes it strains friendships. Other times it can end them. Mostly depends on how long it continues and if the real cause is just enjoying himself....or his girlfriend being controlling (not likely).
I'm almost 51 years old and have been 'friends' of sorts with a fella for over 30 years. I decided recently (three days ago) to clean house. I'm tired of him and the stupid decisions he's made all those years. He's a fool. I no longer find value in listening to his foolishness. So I ended the relationship. I ignore his calls and won't answer his emails. Sounds whimpy...but a direct confrontation with him would crush him....so I've chosen the 'dying on the vine' scenario.
I don't think your friend is doing this.....hopefully.
