Actually several reasons. The stuff I used is rated for vacuum, and -65 through 300 deg F. Maybe it's just piece of mind but I have no idea what drier hose is rated for if at all. I know it's made for blowing at low pressure but how does it do for vacuum?quote:

(please don't say "heat", aluminum will be blocking more radiant heat than you can imagine.)

On my car the throttle body is right above the exhaust crossover so heat is a problem. Aluminum conducts heat much better then neoprene.
It also eliminates the need for a coupler on the TB, just order something with the right ID.
