Fram Tough Guard for $6.88 at Wally World, can’t see paying the extra for the XG without screen backing. 99%@20 microns is sufficient.
Extra Guard/Tough Guards are the best value at the moment in my opinion for the filtration and construction they provide. The SuperTech MP filters are also good, but at least at my WalMart they are very hit or miss as far as what is in stock.Yeah I will just buy the Tough Guard I guess.
Depends on the OEM, some of them really aren't anything to write home about. Toyota and Honda OEM filters are great, AC-Delco is decent, but Motorcraft and Mopar aren't all that impressive for the price.I go with the auto manufacturer's oil filters when i can. By them in bulk, they are cheap too.
Sell the sizzle not the steak'sMy difficulty buying OEM filters is they have no published specs for efficiency at a micron level or mileage life and in a number of cases they are more expensive than the high quality aftermarket. Our Walmart is now selling Subaru OEM filters for $10.97. This is over $2 more than a Fram Ultra that has excellent performance and life specs.
Motorcraft ecoboost canister filters were really nice, but they did recently change them. More like an Ultra now. Ford put a lot of them on when I was getting free oil changes, and none of those Fords went poof, but none of those were canister filters.Depends on the OEM, some of them really aren't anything to write home about. Toyota and Honda OEM filters are great, AC-Delco is decent, but Motorcraft and Mopar aren't all that impressive for the price.
What you have is a "cartridge" style filter. A "canister" filter is a metal can, spin-on style filter.Having a canister filter does mean I can look at it at will to see if it is torn or janky in any way. All manufacturers should go to canister filters. So easy and convenient. Never have to wonder if my 9-11$ ultra is fubar.
