Best engine in 2023?

Not a very useful video, but rather more of an advertisement for certain brands.

"Buy a Toyota, you can neglect it and it will still run and last forever!" Uhm no, it won't. But that's what everyone wants: put a little bit of gas in it and run it until the wheels fall off... smh.
Do you have some information to counter the guys video?

Something like a 2005 Buick Park Avenue Ultra, brand new with the brand new smell would put me in 7th heaven.
My uncle found a 1991 Park Avenue a few years back with only 70K miles. It was nearly mint. My brother bought it off of him a year or so after that. It still smelled new. Those leather seats were BETTER than couch cushions I kit you not, and the leather was of excellent quality. Like new 27 years later.

Pentastar V6
HEMI V8
Hyundai 2.5 MPI/GDI
Hyundai 2.5 Turbo MPI/GDI

Yes, all of the above work really well with a little bit of care.
I would be the last person to hedge my bets on a Hyundai/Kia engine till they have at least 5 years of a track record. With 5 BILLION dollar of engine warranty repair on Hyundai/Kia motors in the last 10 years. I would not put my money on that new engines just yet.

2.5 Liter Toyota 8 injector 4 banger would be my choice.

Reading reviews as recent as 2020 Hyundai is still having engine issues.

If I were looking to buy a car with the best engine on the market, which would it be? Longevity, simplicity, ease of maintenance/access?
Hands down, the z06s flat plane crank v8.

Now, if you want practical? I'd say Honda's 2.0 turbo. Even with fuel wash potential, its still done very well.

By far the best gasoline passenger engine you can can still buy new in 2023 is a Nissan VQ40DE - one of the best engines they ever made. Unfortunately you will need to fly to the middle east to get one - they still put it in the Patrol from my understanding (or did in 2022) but only in the middle east, not in Australia.
Which 2023 Nissan product can you get a VQ40DE in? I thought those were done back in 2019 and replaced with the VQ38DD.

As per my post - you can still get it in a Nissan Patrol in the middle east

You could also sill get the Toyota with the little diesel there all the way up until 2021 when they stopped making the land cruiser completely.

Am not convinced anyone but Tesla is serious about EVs.

A Model Y LR would be my choice. Musk says they are being built to 500,000-1,000,000 mile anticipated service lifetime.
Musk said he has private equity to take Tesla private when the stock was dropping. He is court for that "misleading of investors" at the moment if I am not mistaken.

I would take what he says with a grain of salt.

Apparently what Musk has been releasing since talking over Twitter is being taken with a grain of salt by the media because it exposes their pals.

I consider the Ford Duratec 2.5 (which is really a Mazda MZR) in my Escape to meet the criteria the OP describes (longevity, durability, ease of maintenance) very well. The Mazda 2.5 Skyactive is another good one IMO. I agree with those touting Toyotas but I'm not ready to put Hyundais in that category yet.

Six Banger swap. :D
