I just got in a 2009 Nissan Altima hybrid with about 125,000 mi on it.

I'm going to have the coolant changed for the engine along with the hybrid system. I'll stick with coolants that are compatible with the Atima engine. But the inverter for the hybrid system is going to need some form of PHOAT coolant.

I'm thinking that the Toyota coolant that I usually get from Walmart will be perfectly fine. It's a Toyota based system. However, there may be a reason to only use Nissan long life coolant or some other compatible coolant instead.

Any insights on this one? It's a great vehicle and I hope that the next owner can keep it for another 125k.

Didn't even know they made a hybrid especially in the early years. I think nissan uses blue antifreeze and if that's the case use blue and maybe red if toyota uses it. I use prestone platinum now and have over 600k on two iron blocks since new ran on nothing but universal green after the first change and both are still great with original heater cores that have never needed a clr flush but some can't bear universal green for whatever reason so if it makes one happy to see a specific color then get blue antifreeze. I think I'd get Peak blue, It's one of the better ones. But supertech blue would be fine too.

16 year old Nissan? Save your money...Supertech blue or even better, Supertech Dexclone if you don't care about color.
