Right now Im using Mopar (Pennzoil conventional) Bulk 5W20 in my truck because its free. Ive got a 6 month Maximum OCI (Warranty Requirement). That generally coincides with 3000 - 4000 miles in a truck with a 6 Qt oil capacity that averages 19.2 mpg.
Im thinking of using Quaker State Advanced Durability (or maybe Havoline?) when I start paying for it. Im reluctant to use an oil sodium based additive package (Mobil Super 5000).
Any better options for price/performance for short intervals?
Does it really matter or should you just get whatever is on sale that week thats produced by a reputable blender?
PS After it hits 5 years old its likely to see 2 year drains with an Extended Drain Lubricant but Im reluctant to write off the 5-year Engine Warranty.
