My son just bought a new 2011 Kia Forte 2.0L which I will have him run a few short 3K OCI's to break in the engine as well as clear away any new engine deposits . It stands to reason you would want a good shot of moly for engine break in so at this time PYB 5W 20 has made my short list - any others to consider ?

I would add Formula Shell, VWB or Kendall to that list for up to 5K to 6K.

Anything under 3K....SuperTech from WM, Peak or any store brand would be fine to clean out any contaminants. Why spend a lot on oil if your just going to use it to clean out any excess metals or debris?

No GDI (thank goodness) just the same bullet proof in line 4 Beta engine that Hyundai has used in the Elantra for several years .

Yes , any of those oils you mention Mongo 161 would make my list ! I want to like the new Mobil conventional - but can't find a reason beyond PYB or QSGB to give it a serious look .

For short oci's? Really? A little bit drastic of a statement don't you think. Conventional isn't junk it was keeping automotive engines running long before synth was even a thought to use in them. Unless you are extending your oci or in extreme temps conventional is as good as any synth oil.We all have our own opinion though.

I have been running conventional since 2006. my car is 238,000 miles. No problems.

I am going to run conventional on my 2010 honda. I probably go with mobil super 5000 or castrol gtx which I can find easy from walmart.

I really want to run shell or chevron 5w20. They are not easy to find.
