So a friend of mine has a 2006 kia spectra. He is asking me to give him a reccomandation as he is a newb at this. He usually has oil changes done at the Dodge dealer where he bought the car. I belive the owners manual states 5w30 10w30 or 10w40. Car has well over 170K so I thought about using a High Mileage 10w40, what do you guys think? TIA!!

Driving habits are about 3 miles to work and the occasional trip home to Chicago from Iowa. Other than that just around town.

Id use pyp (Pennzoil yellow bottle) and change it at 3-5k. 5w 30 if it used a lot of oil pennzoil hm has worked well.

OVER 170,000 miles on the car?

Do what brought him to that point. No change needed!

We should LEARN what works from people/vehicles like this...
